RIMBA at 5 Saves Campaign@UTAR

On the 19th to 20th of August 2014, University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) organised the 5 Saves Campaign 'Sustain the Nature, Conserve the Heritage' and invited UMCares to inspire its students.
UMCares was contacted by Mr Chow Keng Fatt, Assistant Manager of the Department of Student Affairs, UTAR, to give a talk on the theme of campus community participation towards a sustainable campus environment.
Ben of RIMBA rose to the challenge, and gave a lunch talk on the 19th. Despite the low attendance, captured the imagination of the UTAR students and Tzu Chi Foundation volunteers, who also participated by setting up an exhibition at the event. The discussion was so lively that it lasted longer than the talk itself!
The RIMBA team also enjoyed the exhibition held by the Tzu Chi Foundation, which featured demonstrations of relief aid towards areas of natural disasters (pictured above, left) as well as promoting the benefits of vegetarianism, and how to achieve a balanced diet even without meat (above, top right). Tip: make sure you have eight colours of plant-sourced food on your plate! Lastly, something we can easily do in our daily life, starting today (above, bottom right): Say No to Polystyrene!
